Throughout the years, I've taken occasional art courses when time and money have allowed; drawing, oils, photography, and charcoal. I experiment a lot. I've also taken workshops in poetry, creative writing, and Proprioceptive writing and I've had two books of poetry published.
The 1990s found me working with combos--- part painting, part using findings from nature, and part creating with small items that I find interesting. One of my favorite pieces is one in which I used all the earrings that I had as a young woman.
I also made use of some of the slates my father had given me.
In my photography, I try to keep the pictures true. My only enhancements are cropping and adjusting light and contrast. It is important for me to capture the images as I first saw them and I never "arrange" a setting.
This is a sample of what the outgoing tide leaves.
Getting involved in charcoal landscape drawing has been a radical and interesting change as I've always focused on color. Now, as I travel around, I not only see the beauty in its natural setting, but I'm considering how it would look in black and white. Working with charcoal brings a bit of a mystery to the projects.
Life is an artistic journey and I want to share what I "see." As an artist, I am always looking for that "something different" to set my work apart. I can explore the feelings of emptiness as well as play Native American Flute to bring me to that place where creativity lies. I hope you enjoy what you see.
