I AM AN ARTIST!

It took many years before I was comfortable calling myself an artist. After all, I had no real formal training. Who was I to lay claim that I had any talent? But I could not stop the dreams and ideas that filled my head. I could not help feeling everytime I saw a painting that "I could do that." Throughout my life, I'd occasionally paint and draw and actually sold a small oil painting or two. (Most of my work was given away.)

It was through studying Julia Cameron's work in "The Artists Way" that let me give myself permission to BE an artist and to actually feel okay telling people that I am an artist. That was the opening of a huge door. I dabbled, I experimented, I played. I didn't want to do "traditional" art work and I didn't want to do what everyone else was doing.  I was bound and determined to find my own way.
